Using a TiVo Series 3 with cable cards for years. Now, on some channels, I am getting the gray/black error screen with "The cableCARD considers the Host to have only one-way RF capability". Called FiOS and they sent me new cable cards. Still have the same issues. Unfortunately the telephone techs don't know anything about cable cards. Consequently I have to go through the same troubleshooting every time I call, and the telephone tech is obviously reading from the same script.
I know the cable companies 'hate' cable cards because they don't make any money off of them. Still. It can't be that hard to keep one or two techs on the payroll to help those of use who love out TiVo.
Anyone have any ideas?

Are they M-CARDs?
If so, only install a single card in slot1. Configure the card for the TiVO. You should not require "cards".
If you had the older S-CARDS, they were only single tuner cards, and may not have been married to the box properly.
The Card MUST now be married to the TiVO, were before it only required activation, and that process did not properly marry the card to the box. If you have a single M-Card now, and are able to make it work, you can send the other back and save money. Here are two web pages that may help you.

You should have received activation paperwork with the cards that include an activation number. Be sure to use the corect number with the proper card.
They should not be sending out the old S-CARDS, and should only be sending M-CARDS.
If you have an older Series 3, you could start having issues with this, but if it has been working, I do not think it would be an issue now. Unless the copy once bit is causing issues with this card feature. My TiVO HD is OK.It shows as a Series 3, but is I think a newer version.

I have a TiVO HD with a Motorola Cable Card and it has functioned for a number of years, and I even installed an internal upgraded 1TB drive. The M-Card is properly married to the box, and all works fine.
