It is most probably related to your bill due date.
So you don't have a lot of leeway in when to pay your bill.

I know you probably don't want to lose money off for auto pay, but I would never give any company total access to your money. I would recommend using the make a one time payment option from the payment portal. This way you can pay the invoice right up to a day before next billing cycle.
auto pay comes with issues like double payments or no payments or insufficient funds at time of auto pay etc.
