False and deceptive online pricing by Verizon Fios

My current 2 year contract is about to expire, so I tried to renew my sevices online thru their "Upgrade/Renewal" link. After selecting my Triple Play package, it quoted my price as $94.99 for months 1 thru 24. I double checked the pricing by clicking on their "pricing terms" link and it confirmed it. Here is exactly what the link showed:

Verizon Triple Play

$94.99 /mo 2 year agreement

Price Months Price Months 1 - 24 = 94.99

Discounts Included

  • $5 24-Month Contract Discount
  • $10 Triple Play Bundle Credit for 24 Months
  • $5 Credit for 24 Months

After adding this bundle to my shopping cart, suddenly their terms changed (see below for new terms in shopping cart).

Now it says that the 1st month is $94.99 and months 2 thru 24 will be $ 109.99.  This is a typical Bait and Switch tactic and is very deceptive and most likely illegal. Verizon needs to either correct this problem on there website immediately or face possible major class action lawsuits. If this is a mistake, will Verizon honor their original price quote of $94.99 for the full 24 month contract term. I got absolutely no answer to my concerns by going to Verizon Chat. I will be contacting my state AG and the FCC if this is not resolved soon. If anyone know how I can get the price I was quoted, please respond!

I haven't renewed yet, but I got the same scenario 3 times as you did with the pricing.  Twice by Chat and once by phone.  I told the guy on the phone it's deceiving and he stated it was wrong also not sure why they are doing that.  So far, I'm hestitant on renewing.

I had the same deal....

And another interesting glitch happened a week or so ago. Back when they offered the $84 triple play deal......everytime I clicked on "add to cart" it magically changed to $109 a month!!  I was never able to get the deal.

Would any other industry get away with this much decepton?

Same thing happened to me so I started an on-line chat session.  The agent told me it was a glitch with the website and to go ahead and do the renewal.  He promised me that I would get the $94.99 per month bundle price.  But my first bill reflected a price of $109.99.  I am still fighting with Verizon to get it corrected even though I have the printed chat.  I am getting close to screaming breach of contract and moving forward.  Has anyone else be able to resolve any billing issues with Verizon?  They never call back when promised.  I am so frustrated =(

Believe me even on the phone if you negotiate a deal and sign up...the next day they renegotiate with you and your services don't work until they get the price they want. Yesterday negotiated a price for my "extreme" package with "Lifetime" dvr and 50/20 service. The price was okayed and so was the lifetime DVR...last night I had no Showtime.I was supposed to have the same bundle I always had...I had no Showtime...so I called service they said it was a glitch and they would have it working today....It's still out. but they could get it working if I would add another 40 dollars a month to the negotiated price....??? Ethics is important when negotiations are done...So hours on the phone yesterday and today I told them It was extortion...It took years to get the right bill and hours on the phone every billing period....I think you're better off being a NEW customer then a LOyal one. Oh yeah I told them I had the confirmation number for the contract and they said that the number given has nothing to do with the negotiated pricing (which included me waving the 250 visa card) and that the offer I was given wasn't valid...YIKES! can you say fraud!!!

Did you not receive a gift card that should have come with your order?

I signed up on line for the triple play with all there discounts. The next morning I realized I ordered the wrong TV package. Called Verizon to see if I could make the change and keep everything the way it was. I was assured it was ok and I would receive the $89 price for the triple play. Well you guessed it. Verizon now refuses to honor the price saying that I called in and made a change there for I lose all discounts. I asked to have the voice tapes reviewed to prove my case and all I get is sorry, you need to write a complaint letter.

NOWHERE in the TOS for my contract does it state that making a PHONE change ANYTIME during your contract that you will lose any discounts. I have already forwarded my complaint to the Texas Attorney General for review. Verizon has been unwilling to live up to our contract and fails to show anywhere in my contract that making a change after the order is place will result in a loss of discounts. It's one thing to inform the consumer PRIOR to making changes not having this spelled out in their TOS is unacceptable and questionable under the law.
