I'm trying to set up my verizon mail in Outlook 2007 (using Vista), and each time I test account settings I receive the error message
"Send test e-mail message: Cannot send the message. Verify the e-mail address in your account properties. The server responded: 550 5.7.1 Authentication Required"
I'm sure I have my email address entered correctly, account type POP3, using "incoming.verizon.net" and outgoing.verizon.net for SMTP. I have 110 set for POP3 and 25 for SMTP.
Any help in resolving this would be greatly appreciated

I think you need to check the box that says "My server requires authentication" under the Outgoing Server section. I do not have Outlook to verify the exact setting, I have Outlook Express, but I am sure Outlook does have a similar setting.
