I know you can't tell me when FIOS will roll out, but how do you handle new building developments?

My background:

Built a house, in a brand new housing development (Hatfield, PA).  Fiber connections have been run as a part of the build (at least, that's what we're told).  The builder (THP) goes belly-up before the development has been officially turned over to the township.  No definitive timeframe on when (or if) the development will be turned over, as the Chapter 11 reorganization is ongoing - could be months, or a year or more.  Every time I check with Verizon (since 2007), FIOS service is "not available".

My guess is that Verizon doesn't offer FIOS service to new building developments until they are "official" in the eyes of a township, as various construction activities could take place up until that point (and possibly wreck/alter service).

Can anyone confirm whether my assumption is correct?  It would at least give me a general clue as to when service might be available.

Thanks.

https://vzsurvey.verizon.com/Public/2wSZ66C/Link.html   is the best thing that I have seen to get the ball rolling to investigate whether a locale can get FiOS, and then also there are community pages that give construction info for township's.  it's not avail info for ALL states, but for most it is.   you can try going to the PA one.

Hmm - thanks to both responders - I got the community page to work, but the first link isn't connecting, nor is the FTTP locations link.  I'm logged in with a community-only pwd, if that makes a difference - any ideas?

Interestingly, when I go to the community page and look at the coverage map for high-speed internet, it shows that it's available in my area ... yet, checking for FIOS availability on the main verizon website still shows a "no" for my address, which is the same answer I got today during a conversation with a Verizon rep.

Maybe it will remain a mystery. 🙂

FTTP Construction Locations  pulls up if you go to http://www22.verizon.com/about/community/pa/ and then look for the link on the webpage.  for some reason if you click on the link I provide, it doesn't go there.

color me dumb.
