I signed up for FIOS on August 9th. Then a day before the strike ended, I ordered XFINITY and planned to cancel FIOS.. Well FIOS called and convinced me to stay so I did. But I still have no installation date and I cannot get a hold of a human being.
I've been getting by at home without cable or internet... but I'm worried for this upcoming weekend when Hurricane Irene hits, how will I be able to watch the news or weather channel for emergency or evacuation updates?
I've waited far too long for service and am seriously considering calling XFINITY again.

I just called and they said the earliest they could come is SEPTEMBER 7TH! Will someone let me know if the storm is headed straight for me? UGH!

I can't speak to the installation issues you are experiencing ... but as for the hurricane, I'd suggest checking out that somewhat antiquated but amazingly functional little feature they have on most clocks, car dashboards, stereo tuners, etc. -- I believe they call it "radio" -- funny thing, supposedly it even works when the lights go out if you have these other new fangled things called batteries.

Thank you for your sarcasm. You do realize I was just trying to get an earlier installation date right? As for the "radio" I plan on checking them out at the museum asap.

As for checking the weather, http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/graphics_at4.shtml?5-daynl seems to work on my thunderbolt and has been pretty useful in terms of weather.
