Password vs help verifier

Verizon made my seven character password (used past dozen years), but Verizon phone and chat agents required me to provide information from my account to verify I am me, when I can not access my account due to Verizon made my password invalid.   Verizon should be more customer friendly, allowing customers to continue to use existing seven character password, with warning such is more vulernable to hackers (yet acknowledging despite complex 20 character passwords, hackers can invade & cause havoc).  When Verizon makes customer's password invalid, then Verizon agents need to understand customer may not have access to data on their Verizon account (such as amount most recently paid, account number, or "master order number").
