Hi all-
I tried to order the flex plan online- the one where I just get FIOS TV and FIOS internet bundled and save $30 a month or so, and according to the online deal, you get a hundreds bucks back, and a 2 yr rate guarantee . I couldn't order it online because I need cable cards to go with my TivoHD box. I called to order and I mentioned the deal I saw on line and I was told I can't get it- I need phone too. I told her the online deal didn't mention phone. She said I HAVE to order phone too- even if the online form let me fill out and send, the system would reject it b/c I didn't order phone too.
I currently have verizon home phone- the cheapest most basic plan for like $25 a month. I don't even want a landline but my wife wants it, so we keep it. Now I'm told I need to upgrade my phone, that I don't use now, to one with all kinds of features and stuff that I still won't use. It's stil a good deal, but it's going to be $10 more a month than if I just got the flex plan I wanted and kept my basic phone.
Can I get FIOS in the house and still keep my plain old basic vanilla phone service? Do I have to get the fancy FIOS phone service?
Thanks all in advance for your comments...

Tim- That's the exact deal- $80 for 20/5 internet and Extreme HD tv. I called to order it and the cable cards and was told I HAD to get phone as well.... That's the triple play, and it's $109.99. My phone is $28 a month now, so not a huge difference, but a few bucks a month adds up over time...
