So are you basically saying we should just tell everyone who has our verizon.net email addresses to stop sending us email there?  I think the main point of this thread is that those of us who were already using the webmail 2.0 and ACCIDENTALLY switched back to the basic version don't understand why it's so difficult to switch back to the 2.0 version.

Webmail 3.0 newer than the older 3.0 version is now out, I think.  I contacted Verizon a few days later after my trouble ticket was left open and finally got a definitive answer.   There was no way to go back to using Webmail 3.0.  However they were migrating all of the accounts to Webmail 3.0.
So today I checked.... I had an email reply before from the webmail folks to go here: www.verizon.net/newemail.
The once you enter in your email address, it will allow you to go to the preferences link.
On the preference you can check use the rich view drop down menu.
Then it will give you a view similar to the webmail 3, however not totally. By the way it doesn't work in Opera Browser so you have to use IE or Firefox or put in http://netmail.verizon.net/webmail/driver?nimlet=showcanvas&msg=Success. put that in to the address to get the rich view.
I don't know if this is the new Webmail 3.0....  Anyone know or have access to the older webmail 3

I tried the link that you provided and it doesn't work.  It asks you to enter your email address and then click on sign up.  When I click on sign up absolutely nothing happens.  The page just refreshes itself.  :-(

If you go into your webmail, under general, you should have a option now to switch from basic, to rich. I just did it this morning.

You are correct the Rich version is there but if you ask me it is just as bad as the basic.  How can a company as large as verizon make a product where when the user (not all users are completely computer literate) accidentally click a link and there is NO way to get back to it.  Where verizon reps cant even change it back.  As a computer analyst myself i REALLY see this as completely unbelieveable.  I am not trying to be negative about this whole thing and i really do love Verizon and its service but this is just unacceptable.  There has GOT to be a way to change back.

I agree with you that the new Webmail 3.0 looks basically like the old netmail.   The Webmail 3.0 beta was better looking, however there were issues with that locking up with my Opera browser because it was Flash based.  I just wish that Verizon wouldn't do the browser detection issue as it still doesn't allow other browsers like Opera, Google Chrome, and Safari. Over all the interface isn't too bad and is better than the netmail.  I think verizon scrapped the beta version as they probably had to pay that company for the software they were testing.

The new webmail sucks!  We pay all this money for service, and what do they do?  Take us back to the old dial days of email setup!

I feel like I'm back in kindergarten.  I am so upset you would not believe.

I contacted live chat, they couldnt help because I was a fios customer, call the phone number.

Sit and push buttons forever and when you finally get a person...we can't help you, you are fios, they are only open during business hours.  He would put in a ticket claim for me, they will call you tomorrow.  Well, they never called.

I am still waiting.

I either want my verizon webmail beta back or I am going elseware.  I would not suggest verizon to anyone.

We should be asked if we want things changed, not just done without us knowing.

I use webmail only to check on and delete spam, so the change is no big deal to me. But I am curious, what is it specifically you don't like about the new webmail? To me it seems like a step forward, got rid of the need for Flash and seems somewhat faster. I like the new interface.

Also, you make the comment about FiOS only being open during business hours; that is true I think for the ordering and billing departments, but the FiOS technical support folks are available 24/7.

I'm pretty frosted over the change to webmail. As far as I can tell, I can't adjust the header column width (e.g., subject column is only 6 or 8 char wide). I also want to see all my mails in the panel, rather than only seeing 10, 25 or 50 at a time. It's only slightly more flexible than the basic. I asked to be put back to the beta version, but was told that they don't have the capability to back it out (I'd hate to tell my management or users that I couldn't undo a bad implementation). Rep also stated that I should read my terms of service... it probably says that we have to take whatever <expletive self-edited> they give us and be happy little users. Man am I frosted. Did I say that already?

If someone has an answer to the column width thing or getting more than 50 mails per panel, I'd love to hear it. Otherwise, it's time to pick another provider.

And yes, I also was told that I had to talk to FIOS tech support, and to try back during business hours. I don't see how the FIOS webmail support would be different than the DSL webmail support.
