I like to reserve my desktop for icons I am using at the time (shortcuts to my work and such).
I deleted the VISS icon after install but when I restart my computer, it always comes back. Does anyone know how to permanently delete it?
I don't mind the icon in the Taskbar, I just do not care to have it on my desktop.

do a google search for mcafee's removal tool.
mcpr.exe
download, install and run it.
it should remove EVERYTHING VISS or mcafee related
