cant respond go group texts

Up until a month a or so ago I could respond to group texts. All of my associates have Iphones. Mine is a Motorola Droid razor. Message acts as though it sends them comes back with a red circle in the bottom right corner and message says.. message failed. Is there an update I'm missing? Very agitating.
