Bridge Mode Question on Westell 327W

I have a question about switching to bridge mode. When I get to the point where I disable the Private Lan DHCP, do I also disable (uncheck) the box for Private Lan?

When I do this, will it reset the ip address to 192.168.1.1 on it's own or should I do that before I get started? It is now 192.168.6.1. I want that address to move to my Linksys router.

Thanks for any suggestions!!

Here are the directions http://www22.verizon.com/ResidentialHelp/HighSpeed/Networking/SetUp/QuestionsOne/123766.htm

I believe you must, do everything to the T (step-by-Step).

Page one direction(s), the URL above.

Page two http://www22.verizon.com/ResidentialHelp/HighSpeed/Networking/SetUp/VersaLink7500/123733.htm

Pahe three http://www22.verizon.com/ResidentialHelp/HighSpeed/Networking/SetUp/VersaLink7500/123734.htm

Page four http://www22.verizon.com/ResidentialHelp/HighSpeed/Networking/SetUp/VersaLink7500/123735.htm

Page five, http://www22.verizon.com/ResidentialHelp/HighSpeed/Networking/SetUp/VersaLink7500/123736.htm

And I believe when the follow the directions to the T (Step-by-Step), the LAN IP of the router remains the same.

So if you want the Linksys to use 192.168.6.1, I would advise you that you change the LAN IP of the Westell 327w to the LAN IP that you want it to be at ( such as 192.168.1.1 )

Thanks for the links. I have read through them, it's pretty straight forward. I wonder though, we use a Static IP from Verizon, can I move that static public IP over to my linksys after the bridge mode conversion is done?

Thanks a million!!

You can move your public Static IP, over to your Linksys.

If you have no idea of how to do that on your Linksys, the model of that Linksys would help...

That would be great. I am using RV042. I know how to change the public ip, just wondered when do I do this, after restarting the verizon router in bridge mode? I will be doing this in the morning, I will update the thread with the results!!

Thanks again!

Ok, I got it to work. Here's what I had to do. Log in to the Verizon router, and change the LAN address to 192.168.1.1. Reset router. Log back in and change the Broadband connection from "Routed Bridge" to just "Bridge". Of course, disabled Wireless and DHCP. Reset router, it comes back on as a 'modem'. Fire up Linksys, enter static IP information. Plug WAN port into Ethernet port 1 on modem. Set Linksys router working mode to "gateway". Set local LAN address to old subnet of .5 and all is well. VPN tunnel worked fine too. Just pay attention to the routes and it is all good.

FYI, the modem still has the 192.168.1.1 address, but only used for admin.

Thanks for the tips !!!!
