Getting slow speed recently

I have 7/0.768 dsl plan in Wa state. When I first upgrade from 3mbits to 7mbits I got the download speed about 4-5. However, the speed recently is slow down. I run speed test from both verizon.net/speedtest or www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ , the speed always shows under 3mbits ( ~ 2.5-2.6).  I already try to turn off modem, router and turn them back on but the result is still the same.

#1 In the Linksys go to Wireless -> Basic Wireless Settings.

#2 Is the router set to  Wireless SSID Broadcast Enable OR Disable?

#3 Are you using the SES Security?

#4 At Wireless, go to Wireless Security.

#5 What is the Security Mode?

#6 If WEP, what is the WEP Encryption?

#7 If WPA, what is the WPA Algorithm?

#8 At Wireless go to Wireless MAC Filter.

#9 Is that enabled or Disabled?

#10 If enabled, is it set to permit only OR prevent?

#11Is the modem the The White and Blue or The Red and Black Firmware?

1. I test the connection speed via wire not wireless.

2. Modem: White and Blue firmware.

3. Wireless security is WEP 128 bits share key

4. MAC filter is on.

If you are not using the wireless network, turn off wireless in the router.

Hi,

I switched from optimum to DSl, 01/20/2010 was my date of switching over was told I have 3MB/768KB , the Westell Modem 7500 says I have

3360 Kbps /864 KBps. The technician said my bandwidth is much higher about  7000KBPS.

I have 1 desktop and 2 laptops and also have vonage phone service. With cable I had more than 3MB / 800KB , since I got DSL I should have been the same, but its miserable I called tech support they came and said there was a Y bridge in my line, they removed it and its good on their meter.I play youtube video, then forget it the online is terrible checked on lnternetfrog, just now(02/12/2010.05:40PM Eastern Standard Time).1MB download and 696KB upload only question is why would it matter if I had cable or dsl, the output/input are through the same router and Ethernet connections.Except the cable modem versus for DSL westell 7500. I thought since there will be a dedicated 3MB/768KB for my line I would be better off.In the future I wanted to go to FIOS, guess I am stuck with DSL as soon as my time is up will go back to Optimum OOL. Just was curious on why there is no mention of scenarios like mine ever mentioned, when they sell me the product they are all gunho now it doesn't work well, they tell me its my pc/laptop, network connections and the like. Its like the Baseball player blames the bat for not hitting the ball well enough did not come hear to ridicule or mock anyone, can I get an honest answer..

Thanks

Sastry

Ok.

In the Westell go to System Monitoring -> Advanced Status -> Transciever Stats.
