A few weeks ago my DSL speed was cut from 3mbs to 1.5mbs. Calling tech I got the run around saying this is all my line has ever had, not happy. Somebody switched the line provisioning on me now everything we do online is painful. Who do I call about getting this resolved? We always had solid connection at the 3mbs so them switching makes no sense. In almost the same breath the India tech told me the speed I had was an accident and my line would only handle the 1.5 speed. Makes no sense.

#1 Visit http://www.giganews.com/line_info.html and post up the Traceroute the page shows, if you wish. Be aware that the final hop (bottom-most line of the trace) might contain a hop with your IP address in it. Remove that line. What I'm looking for is a line that mentions "ERX" in it's name towards the end. If for some reason the trace does not complete (two lines full of Stars), keep the trace route intact.
#2 Can you provide the Transceiver Statistics from your modem?
#3 If you don't how to get that info from the modem:
a) It would help tp know the brand and model of your modem.
b) If a RJ-45 WAN port router that is connected to the dsl modem, what is the brand and model of the DSL modem?

Nothing's an accident in this case. We just need to see some Transceiver Statistics to see what you can hold.

Ask Verizon to set that manually to 2560/640kbps and apply a 3M profile in the router and see how it handles. The Optimizer may have turned the speed down due to noise margin concerns.
@MaxFactor: Could you supply some Transceiver Statistics for us to see? They give us a basic but effective picture on how your line is.
