When your cable company shows up, if they're not doing a FTTP --> DOCSIS to the Home setup like I've seen some smaller companies do in rural areas, make sure they absolutely give you a DOCSIS 3.0 modem. Pretty much a must these days regardless of what speed you have from them. Just my $0.02 🙂

Now if you're seeing problems with FiOS, bug Verizon about it until they fix it. It's probably an equipment problem that by procedure, usually takes them a few calls to resolve. If you have neighbors seeing the same issues, have them call and let the rep who you speak to know about it. Most likely requires CO or Technician action anyways to resolve.
