Could you provide the results of a speedtest for us from http://speedtest.verizon.net/ and tell us which package you are paying for? In addition, when you visit http://192.168.1.1/ (assuming you are connected to the Verizon-provided modem/router), what speed does the modem say it is connected at?

the speed in my router status when i log into the modem is

Modem Status Connected DownStream Connection Speed 10912 kbps UpStream Connection Speed1020 kbps

I am paying for the enhanced internet plan

so my download speed is drasticaly slow also.  I am supposed to be getting between 7.1 and 15mbps downstream

this is the results from a speed test that I just did

running 10s inbound test (server to client) . . . . . . 8.51Mb/s

running 10s outbound test (client to server) . . . . . 654.77Kb/s

every other speed test I have down comes up around 5-600Kb/s upload.  So that is about right what that is saying.  And so far anything that i have downloaded since getting this dsl has never reached a speed of over 1.2Mb/s down

Through research I have learned that with this plan I should be getting between 1.1 and 3Mbps upload.  I am not

OK.  After looking into it more I believe I am missinterpereting megabyte and megabit.  So if that is the case the speeds I am getting are correct?

Your upload speed should be a bit higher. The download is pretty close to where it should be in regards to the sync speed. If you want to provide your modem's Transceiver Statistics to see where the line is in terms of available capacity or to see if we can spot a problem, feel free to do so. Unfortunately, due to PPPoE + ATM + TCP/IP overhead found on DSL, the higher the speed of the line, the more overhead you get and what you're seeing with the download, is simply a case of Overhead consuming some 2Mbps of bandwidth. If PPPoE were not in the mix along with an ATM network, your speeds would be a bit higher and Verizon would not need to overprovision lines as much. Right now you're looking at around 20% overhead which is a ton.

Do you by any chance have QoS enabled in your router? If so, is it set to limit your upload speed to the old speeds you used to obtain before upgrading to the Enhanced package? It's worth a check.

how do I go about finding my transceiver stats?

I am using this modem/router http://www.netgear.com/home/products/wirelessrouters/high-performance/DGND3300.aspx

#1 Try to go to 192.168.0.1 (the default LAN IP of the router)

#2 If asked for the user name and password, type it in. By default they are admin as the user name and password as the password.

#3 In the router go to Router Status

#4 The info that you are looking for is in the modem area.

#5 Please don't post the info from any of the other areas (ASDL Port, LAN Port, or Wireless Port).

#6 I have seen the sample screen shot at

a) http://screenshots.portforward.com/Netgear/DGND3300v2/Router_Status.htm

b) and that same screen from http://www.pcwintech.com/screenshots-netgear-dgnd3300-netgear-firmware

but it sure seems limited. 😞
