hi i think i've found a bug in the westell 7500 firmware. the symptoms are that the modem will not log on via ppp automatically if you power cycle the modem or the modem loses sync. the modem will connect if you use the gateway reboot command from the web interface. i have firmware version 5.01.00.02. this problem has been experienced by other users as well. there is a detailed thread at dslreports.com. i am user "postjosh."

is there any possibility of getting a high level support or a verizon programmer to take a look at this? when i reported this problem to tech support they just sent me a new modem which exhibited the same behavior. thanks, josh

thanks for all your help. a verizon rep on the dslreports verizon direct forum resolved the issue. it seems that when you power cycle this model you need to wait two minutes before repowering. if you wait the full two minutes the "always on" feature will work to reconnect you via ppp. - josh

you will probably want to go into the router, so go to http://192.168.1.1 and then when you're in there, you'll use the menu options to navigate to the firmware section. I am not sure what the latest firmware is for that device, so I can't share that with you, but check to see if it finds any new updates. your username and password could be a lot of things, according to that website below it's
admin | admin |
But try also admin/password or password1 or verizon1 most likely it's just admin admin.
If you have had the router for a while (2-3 years) then it just might be old and in need of a replacement. Verizon should provide that for you.
From what it looks like it's probably under maintenance or troubleshooting.

thanks for your reply. the router says that i should contact verizon support for firmware upgrades. it does not give any information as to the url of the firmware website. do you know of anywhere that i can check? btw, you posted the screenshots of the 327 not the 7500.

The last time that I checked the URL for my Westell was http://www.westell.com/upgrades/model6100/F99-610015-00.xml
But as addressed in http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,24378958
I got a 404 error back. 😞
I do not know what the full URL is, but perhaps it starts with..
