I recently bought a Mac desktop and got Verizon internet. I have been trying to install the software but when the system is checked for compatibility the computer is not compatible. I have checked the version installed on the Mac and it is 10.6.2 and the requirements for installation are 10.3 and up. What can I do to solve this problem?

What software are you trying to install? What method are you using to install it?

I tried both the CD and the activatemydsl.verizon.net method and both say my system isn't compatible. I've tried many times to download it and the software won't download.

Again, what software are you trying to install? Both HSI and FiOS are plug-and-play, so you don't need any software to reach the internet. There are alternate links to get to almost anything you would do through the activation; it just depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

The software we're talking about is supposed to be installed the first time you set up your internet connection on a new computer. The software comes from the Verizon site. Hope this helps.

Again, there is no software required for an internet connection.
The activation cd can install some shortcuts, but those can be manually added and are not necessary.
It can configure your pop3 client if you prefer using a client to Verizon's webmail, but this can also be done manually.
It can walk you through getting a "portal partner" (Yahoo or AOL), but this is optional, and the partnering can be done elsewhere as well, usually from the My Account page.
It can help you in initially setting up your username and password. This can also be done via the My Account page.
It can configure your modem/router settings, this can also be done manually by accessing the modem/router's GUI.
All the activation cd and site do is string all of the processes together.
