Recently one of my original DSL modems started to give me trouble. Having acquired an Actiontec modem to back up my original modem, I decided to switch them. Ever since, about three days now, I have not been able to access the net at all with any of my browsers, even though it shows at 192.168.1.1 that the net is connected! I have tried every fix that I could think of, all with no success! Please help to resolve this problem.

If you have a firewall installed try to temporarily disable it to see if you can get on-line.

Thanx, but no firewall. Modem shows connection but Firefox, Opera, IE and Thunderbird do not make the leap. Iv4 and Iv6 show NO INTERNET connectivity.

When you're at the main page of the modem, are you seeing a 10.xxx.xxx.xxx IP address or something else?
If you have factory reset the ActionTec upon receiving it, have you tried disabling the Walled Garden? You can disable it at either http://192.168.1.1/verizon/redirect or http://192.168.1.1/verizon/redirect.htm if it's a Verizon branded modem.
Lastly, please make sure your PPPoE Login is correct. If the modem shows the User Name for the "ISP Connection" is admin or is blank, that may be causing problems.
