This has been happening to me since Friday in Millersville, PA, outside of Lancaster. Level 1 support blamed my modem and claimed it was not impacting anyone else. However I swapped out my mode and twisted pair and it is still happening.
Now that a VZ employee is reading this, hopefully we will get help. Does VZ have an ITIL Change Management process? According to my syslog, this started at 8/3 right at 5AM - which looks suspiciously like the end of an overnight change window.
I have been flapping ever since at 25 minutes - sometimes only 5 minutes, others as long as 120 (rare):
root@gw:/var/log# grep pppd.*Connect\ time /var/log/messages.1 Aug 3 05:02:30 gw pppd[10374]: Connect time 10184.7 minutes. Aug 3 05:12:09 gw pppd[27174]: Connect time 9.4 minutes. I'm in Lancaster PA. Same problem. Started Friday. Thought was my old Verizon modem so bought a new NetGear. Same thing happens. Online for an hour, or two. Then the Internet light goes out on the modem. Back on in 5 or 10 minutes. I'm on hold with customer service. Tried to tell me it's my computer. They're getting a senior tech on it right now.
Comcast Xfinity is starting to look pretty good.

Update: just got off phone with tech. They acknowledged there is a problem in our area and are working on it.

I am from the Harrisburg PA area and the problem still exits here even after calling VZ tech on Saturday.
They assisted in re-configuring the modem...Westell 6100G...which at most part I had service for a few hours Saturday evening. Sunday there was hardly any internet service at all and here it is Monday morning and we're back to the intermittent dopping every half hour.
Hoping this problem is resolved soon as I work from home and depend on the internet to connect to my employer's network.

Same thing here in Lebanon PA. Every 10 to 15 minutes I lose connection for about 5 minutes or so. Been doing this for about 4 days now and is REALLY getting old!

We are in the eastern area of VA and it is happening several times a day here as well. The DSL just drops out at random times for about five-to-ten minutes. So frurstrating!

I'm in the north suburbs of Pittsburgh, and the same story as all of you since Friday evening. Saturday was bad, Sunday somewhat better, this morning dropping every 20-30 minutes, fairly solid this afternoon (only one drop). It does seem to be a bigger issue after (but not really during) a rainy period. Frustrating... up for a half hour, down for 5 or so minutes, and so on.
I have a repair call in, and they're supposed to be here sometime between 8 AM and 7 PM today. Currently 2:35, and nothing yet. This will be the 4th or 5th time in the past year or so that we have taken a stab at this. Let's hope that whatever time this is, it's the charm...

EDIT & UPDATE: Just got a call from a Verizon tech about 40 minutes ago. He alone has over 50 people with problems on his repair list, apparently most or all with the same problem, and he was waiting for a call-back from higher-ups in the tech support chain for further instructions on what may be going on and how to deal with it. FWIW, I have managed to hold sync without a drop for a little over 4 hours now...

I sort of have a suspicion on what's going on here if people in a broad area are all of a sudden seeing problems. By any chance are any of you seeing speed decreases with a re-sync of the connection at all? Some logs from the modems for the connection would help give an insight into what's going on further.
