I do see that VZ sooner or later will drop DSL...Currently the competition is offering cablespeed with voice and tv for $89.. However so far i am pleased with VZ and I am trying to figure out which one is the better deal..my zip is 19018 and don't know if they have FIOS here ...maybe somebody is chiming in here ..? thanks

Fios is deployed by street, not zip code,so the only way to really know (unless someone knows that the entire zip code doesn't have it) is to check on Verizon's main website.  If you initiate an order, it will ask for your address, and tell you what is available there.

Except for areas where the FiOS build out was already underway, deployment of FiOS to new areas has pretty much stopped. So unless FiOS service is already in the area, I would not suggest holding your breath waiting for it.

The question then becomes whether you think your DSL service is adequate for all the things you want to do. The need for bandwidth seems to rise rapidly over time. 15 years ago I had dial up at about 50kbps. I was an early adopter of Cable Internet, which got me to 2mbps in 2000, and later upgrades got it to 5mbps by 2006. I now have 25mbps FiOS service. So at some point you are likely to want or need more bandwidth than DSL can provide, and at that point your options are pretty limited.

YMMV.

Minded and Mattheww make good points. I was recently upgraded from 1.0 Mb/s DSL to 3.0 Mb/s FIOS with no additional fees and my monthly rate remained the same. So look online for avaiability , and  good deals, , then call and see what they can do for you. I did not even see the 3.0 FIOS plan online, but after a few calls I was able to get a great monthly rate ($33.00 / month) for mininal phone and FIOS bundle.
