DSL outages for MAC

Has anyone else had this problem?  On average, once a month we will not have access to the internet for 12 hours at a time.  It works fine in between those outages. We have been with tech support hours on end-they say everything on their end checks out. We replaced the ethernet cord at their suggestion..internet worked for a few weeks, then off again.  Tech said we needed a new DSL unit...it came, it didn't work, it was returned.  We can be on line at night, shut down and the next morning have no access.  Try to get on all day, nothing...then about midnight, it comes back on!  Today, after being on the phone for another hour, tech support said they will monitor for 24 hours...I don't know if that will help as we don't have the outages occur every other day.  The whole thing is driving us crazy and we are thinking of switching to someone else.
