DSL quality sux, dropouts, slow speeds. They don't give a **bleep**z about customer support, ignorant online chat customer support is the norm. Basically Verizon knows they have a big monopoly in the DC metro area and they have no desire to speak to you which is why they don't use convenient emails, nope...its the 21st century yet they have no email support. They much prefer you call by phone and hoping you hang up first during the long wait times. They know Comcast sux to so all they have to do is be the outfit just sux a little less, thats how they make their buck, thats their standard of service. Pathetic.

A lot of the lines in DC are probably very old as well. Probably haven't been replaced since Bell Atlantic was eaten and divested.

Do you have a landline with Verizon? Any issues with audio quality on the line such as static, humming, or buzzing? These are signs of copper issues, in adiditon to your DSL Drop-off problem, and should be fixed. If you have noise on the telephone line, call in a telephone repair call to get that fixed. Don't mention DSL. Verizon is obligated to fix the landline.

If you have what is called a "Dry Loop" connection, aka a DSL connection without telephone service, please provide us with what model modem you have, so we can see if it's possible to get the Transceiver Statistics out of it.

P.S. You can get "e-mail" support from Verizon over at DSLReports. They have a DSLReports Verizon Direct forum which gives you direct access to reps in Verizon who do a great job in ensuring these problems get fixed.
