I'm using Thunderbird, latest version. E-mail was previously successful with my home wireless router, but temporarily using my landord's wireless net, can receive e-mail OK, but when I try to send I get an error message -----connecting to SMTP server outgoing.verizon.net failed. Suggestions please.

SMTP sending problems are typically associated with the "my server requires authentication" option in your email settings. so you will want to open that profile and see (usually under servers) if my server requires authentication is checked.

Do not know your setup but Verizon does block normal SMTP port 25 so you have to use port 527 to access outgoing server on Verizon.
If you use a different email carrier other than Verizon they will have a port for you to use rather than port 25.
