Ethernet Cable

On the Ethernet cable that connects my modem to my computer, the plug has broken.   In replacing this cable, is there a SPECIFIC type of Ethernet cable that will enable my particular system to work most efficiently/faster?

I use Windows-7 Home Premium OA (64 bit).

HP Pavilion dv6-1350us Notebook PC.

My modem is a Verizon  D-Link modem which was installed 6/26/14.

model:  DSL 2750B    Wireless ADSL2+  Router.   VZ  Part # DLDSL 2750B

It is a wireless N 4-PORT HSI Gateway.  (A high speed Internet 802.11n Gateway/Router).

Use cat5e or 6 (don’t pay extra for 7 since it has not passed certification yet)
