Presently in a 5 day ordeal with Verizon DSL who now claims that 412Kb is an acceptable bandwidth.  They actually sent a tech to report the same inferior bandwidth I reported to them that could be detected remotely.  This is a scam and hoping others will check check their own connections

Please post your transceiver stats.

That provides some indication of whether the issue is the copper pair quality, or what Verizon has provisioned you with.

In addition, you haven't indicated whether 412kbps is a speed test, or a transceiver stat. All Verizon provides is the on/off ramp to the internet, and absent the transceiver stats, it is hard to know whether the issue is within Verizon's network, or not.

Wow!  You're 2x faster than me. I hope you get to the bottom of this. My experience with customer support is infuriating. So far the community support from this forum seems to be going down the same path as yours. I am finding that speed testing at  http://www.connectionanalyzer.com/ would indicate that Verizon can't or won't deliver its advertised speed. I will get back to you if I make any progress.

I am glad I caught this message as I am having the same problem.

For two years my DSL was at the low end of the given rate of 760 Kbps (actually about 720) but starting in June of this year it dipped to 412.

I have been trying to get answer to this from customer service but to no avail.

I checked my house wiring buy running a direct line from my outside box to the modem but I got the same speed.

How can you get a hold of someone locally to check the system?

The main service number gives you someone from overseas who to totally worthless!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
