Issue with Westell port forwarding / DMZ Host setup

Hello,

I've been trying to setup port forwarding for a busines program that uses a database (it works off port 3050).  I've set up the port forwarding as described here : http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Westell/A90-750015-07/FTP.htm and verified the port is open but I cannot connect to it at all.  To see if it was the program I setup an FTP server but no luck there either.  I can verify in the logs that it's allowing the connection through to the right computer on port 21 (the other program doesn't even show up) but the client just won't connect.

I next tried setting up the computer as a DMZ Host.  When I do that I can connect fine to it no problems.  But then I can't get out from the internet.

The way I've been testing all this is using the IP address while on the same host machine.  This shouldn't matter I don't think as I've done this many a time to test connections but never know.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

#1 Open according to what port checker?

#2 Did you also forward port 20?

#3 What FTP Server is it?
