Leave on Server

Hi,

I have a couple of mysterious problems with Verizon mail server.

One is that mail is often delayed. Showing up in other people's in boxes up to 24 hrs from when I wrote it. This is rare but documented. I also think there are sometimes delays with my incoming mail, with things coming in far from a first sent, first received manner.

My  immediate issue though is that I access my email from two places. It was working well until recently so I'm wondering about changes in the Verizon Mail servers, although it could be my local software too.

One (laptop) machine is set to leave the mail on the server. Any my desktop machine is set to clean the mail off the server.

Something is not working correctly and mail viewed on the laptop is never making it to the desktop machine.

Can anyone shed light on this or explain how email client software notifies the mail server to delete the messaeg?

since computer A leaves a copy on the server, computer B always has access to whatever is on the server.....

but if computer B does not leave a copy, and it checks the server and removes everything that is there, including a new email..... that new email is now on computer B and NOT the server.....

Computer A will not be able to get that email, because it is on computer B and not the server

make sense?

have them both leave a copy, or set them to only remove from the server when you delete your deleted items folder or after x amount of days

Doesn't make sense to me.  I am having some new problems with Webmail and using Outlook Express.

While it is true that, "if computer B does not leave a copy, and ....Computer A will not be able to get that email, because it is on computer B and not the server..."  Nevertheless, it does not address the problem as it was stated in the first post, i.e., there is notihng in vzheadaches post to indicate that the mail is being viewed by computer B first ...  the viewing order is listed as going from computer A (set to leave the message) to computer B... but the mail is being deleted anyway.

suppose we have 5 emails on server

now if you use computer A to access the email and click on send and recieve Email you will be able to get them on A

if you use the computer B and do the same you will be able to get the same emails ..on computer B (coz. the e-mails wer eon the server when you have used computer A

now this is the twist .....

as you have used the computer B where the option was unchecked (leave a copy on th eserver ) i.e.   all the 5 E-mails have been downloaded to the inbox of the coputer B ...there is nothing on the server

now if someone sends you a  new E-mail and you use the computer B to see that E-mail in outlook express/windows mail  then you will not be able to see that e-mail on Computer A

it depends on the turn when you've used the account .....if you use  the acc where the box is unchecked for (leave a copy on the server )

then you will not be able to get the email on the computer where the box is checked for  leave a copy on the server

DEPENDS UPON THE ORDER IN WHICH YOU ACCESS THE CONFIGURED ACCOUNTS
