I have Verizon Triple Play with DirecTV. I want to upgrade to a higher DSL speed but Verizon reps by chat and phone call tell me this is the only speed available in my West Los Angeles area. How is this possible? Would I need a business account to get more speed? Can I use another ISP provider for Internet if I'm already hooked up to Verizon? Thanks for any info.

Yes you can have more than 1 ISP but a better solution may be to look into FIOS if it is available.

Believe me, if FIOS was available in this area, I'd have signed up for it long ago. Verizon stopped FIOS wiring in this city in 2008. If ATT Uverse was in this area, I'd have switched to that. All I'm begging for now is something higher than 1 mbps.

Are you able to supply some Transceiver Statistics from the modem? If your stats look well enough, we can get Verizon to take a look at this further. The qualification database usually just needs to be updated if higher speeds are available.
