With Verizon-when the phone rings I lose internet service--this is not to happen. I could never get an answer. Why does this happen--I have checked to make sure it is connected right.

Welcome to the forum, see this link for some suggestions http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071020131506AAOhiki
You should have been given spare phone filters when your initial installation was done, if not call Verizon and tell them you need to replace all of your existing filters. Please let us know if this fixes the issue.

Are you using a VoIP service in your home or are you using a landline with Verizon?
Filters are certainly a thing to check. Anything attached to the phone line, which includes satellite receivers, phones, CallerID devices and alarm systems require a filter. If filtering isn't a problem, more the likely there is some sort of short on the line that is cleared or created while the line rings or is taken off of the hook, or you have a bad half ringer in your NID than can be removed by a Verizon tech since they are not exactly needed. Ultimately, if the problem isn't with filters, get a Verizon tech out to fix this issue. It certainly isn't uncommon.
