Port forwading/triggering not working on Westell Versalink 327W

I have a Verizon Westell Versalink 327W (modem/router/wireless). I think ever since they upgraded from the Westell firmware to the Verizon branded one (I was not notified, it was done automatically) I have not been able to port forward.

The instructions are simple, so I followed them. I tried both port forwarding and port triggering and dynamic (the 'host' option is greyed out) and with different ports (in the 50000 range). I turned off the software firewall (including windows firewall), set the router firewall to low, disabled Peerblock and Spywareblaster and tested if the port is seen from outside with CanYouSeeme.org.

No luck! What else can I try? Should I be able to have the 'host' option available? Re-image with an old Westell image? Or what recommendations for a better all-in-one DSL modem/router/wireless?

#1 The modem is not in bridge mode?

The directions for that are located by following this path...

a) http://start.verizon.net/

b) Support

c) Internet

d) Home Networking

e) Connecting a third party router.

f) 327w.

#2 Are you trying to hide the SSID (name) of the network?

#3 Are you using MAC Address Filtering?

#4 In the router go to Advanced -> IP Address Distribution.

b) What is the DHCP range of the router?

1 - The modem is a modem AND router (i do not have anything else connected).

2 - I'm not hiding the SSID

3 - I am not using MAC addressing (where can I check and default settings?)

4 - 192.168.1.15 to 192.168.1.47 (never changed)

What should be the settings under "Private LAN", DHCP range?

#1 When you forwarded, did you try to forward to an IP Address OR did you select a PC?

#2 If you tried to forward to an IP Address, what IP Address did you try to forward to?

#3 What was the result on canyouseeme?

1 - Neither, when I open a port the options are "host" or "dynamic"  but "host" is greyed out so "dynamic" is selected by default

(so I cannot select a PC or an type an IP).

When selecting the type of forwarding you can select "port triggering" or "port forwarding".

I opened a separate entry for each (to see if it was one working one way and not the other but same thing).

2 - I do not enter an IP. Should I?

3 - Error: I could not see your service on 70.19.85.238 on port (50205)
      Reason: Connection timed out

I get the same reult for any other port I open.

While I do not have a Westell Versalink 237w, I have the Red and Black (Westell 6100) firmware - And I think the screens are close enough.

Here are the steps in the router for hosting.

#1 When logged into the router, go to Firewall Settings.

#2 Select Port Forwarding.

#3 Select new, but not new service.

#4 Select an existing service OR create a new one (by going to create).

#5 Select Host.

#6 Now depending on your router, it may discover a computer on the LAN (and you can select it) OR you may need to type in an IP Address.

#7 Click apply.

^^

** Please note, there maybe more steps in the router depending on the number of computers behind this router.
