I have had Verizon DSL for many years. Within the last year FIOS has come into my neighborhood. I remain a DSL customer and now my speed has dropped from around 5.1MBPS to around 3.5 MBPS.
I have had 5.1 MBPS for many years until recently. I have been checking on speedtest.net and I have a record since 2012 of consistently having the 5.1 MBPS. Now I see that Verizon has dropped my speed to force me to get FIOS. I do not want FIOS - I just want my speed to be placed at the speed I had had consistently for many years...5.1 MBPS.
I have Time Warner cable and they are offering me a good deal to also take their high speed internet. I would prefer to stay with Verizon DSL, but I will change if I can not get my speed up to a consistent 5.1 MBPS as before. I will be forced to switch.
Can anyone out there help me with this?

Ask Verizon about the 5Mbps "DSL holdout" package they offer. 5Mbps/2Mbps and it'll run over infrastructure Verizon actually cares about for the going concern. For the same price as your 3.5Mbps DSL now.
