For weeks I have watched my speeds drop and drop. doing speed checks and line usually runs between 600-700, supposed to get 1-1.5 (yes, that's the best they have in my area). Drops internet whenever it feels like. Modem is over 4 yrs old. I call and ask for a new modem and get the normal run around. have reset modem, done hard resets (works for a day or 2). No idea where my CO is, but the speeds were never this slow. What does it take to get a newer modem? I just want the service I am paying for and not many choices here except Verizon, tired of being ignored by India, is there anyone in the US that can help anymore?

I am in a similar situation.
I get 1/4 to 1/2 of the minumum speed I pay for and can not get any help.
Their chat is consists of making me look at the lights, look at the wires and making me jump through hoops until I give up and hang up. Then they can count it as a call resolved.
It I had any other option I would have changed a long time ago.

between the modem and the phone line, the phone line is much more likely to be the problem. I've had my old Westell for 'several' years. Still the same speed as always.
