Syster Timing Out when I'm using it- DSL

For several months I have been having problems with my DSL timing out when I am using it.  I will be typing an email, etc. and suddenly it will say my time has expired and I have to sign in again.   Means I lose the email I was typing.  Happened when I was doing my taxes online.   Called customer support and they could  not figure out what the problem is.  If I am typing (keystrokes) WHY is it timing out?   This is very upsetting.

When the connection is timing out or "stuck", what does your modem indicate? Is the DSL light flashing, is the Internet light out? If you're not sure, we're going to need some modem logs and Transceiver Statistics which we can help you get if you tell us what modem you use and if you have any router in the mix.

DSL light is on and Internet light is on.   No lights are off.

OK. I might have read too much into your original post, but are you seeing issues on any other website or program besides e-mail (Verizon's?) ?
