I'm almost 17 years old now, and right now my family has the .5-1 mb/s which seems painfully slow. I think I'm going to hit my dad up on the offer to pay the difference to upgrade the internet since I use my ps4 quite a bit. A while ago verizon sent us the Verizon 2750B for free, and I was wondering if it was a decent enough router, or in other words would a different router increase download/upload speeds by much?
At speeds of 1Mbps the router won't make a difference. These days, the router might make a difference if you're talking speeds in the hundreds of megabits.
The difference comes down to whether or not the router supports QoS or not. Most do. Some handle the job automatically, which can be easy to set up. Others, like mine require manual setup.
At 1Mbps it's time to get the speed boost.
