Web site URL Question

I am a new Verizon DSL user--after years of dial-up (with Prodigy/ATT). . . .

I had a Website and now am in the process of uploading it on Verizon's space.

Question: am I stuck with the website URL I was given http://mysite.verizon.net/vze11mw0e

or can I change it? At least with Prodigy, my URL was my user name that I signed-up with---rather than a bunch of

unrequested numbers and letters.

Those letters and numbers are your account number before you created an alias.

Yes, and that is the URL that gets me to my website on the Verizon server.

Please tell me if I'm missing something.

No, you are not missing anything. It is what it is suppose to be.

Thanks;

Verizon sure makes it a necessity to get your own website domain name, doesn't it?

That is why it is free.

Well, other isps give you a free domain that is consistent with your user ID that you create yourself at signup--and it's free too.

Slight difference.
