Westell 6100G Modem Installation Problem

I recently upgraded my DSL service from the basic plan to the Turbo plan.  Verizon informed me that my existing Westell 327W Modem would have to be upgraded in order to receive the increased speed.  I received notification that the service upgrade was completed last Friday and was able to notice some increase in the download and upload speed with the 327W modem in place.  I received the new 6100G modem the following Monday and disconnected the 327W and simply connected the 6100G using the same cabling as the 327W that was working just fine.  The 6100G boots up with a solid green DSL light, a flashing data light and a red internet light.  I spent an hour on the phone with customer service trying to get internet connection green with no luck.  They claim that it must be a line problem which does not make any sense to me since the 327W works fine.  I ended up disconnecting the 6100G and reconnecting the 327W and the internet is back up and running.

In a subsequent attempt to get the modem working I reconnected the 6100G except this time using the supplied cabling directly to my Windows 7 laptop and obtained the same results. When logging into the modem directly the Modem Staus is Pending not ready for Internet connection. Any ideas on why the 6100G would have a problem connecting to the Internet and the 327W has no issue?

Thanks

#1 Check the speed that you are paying for now with the 327w. Perhaps they did not tell you the truth?

#2 In your 327w go to My Network -> Broadand Connection.

#3 What type of connection is it? For example, it might have.. Protocol: PPPoE.

That is if your screens of your router look the screens of the post at http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r24294339-

If the router does not like that, take a screen shot of the first screen in your router.

Have you connected the modem to the computer with the ethernet cable and accessed the modem menu via a browser?  If not make the connection, open a browser and enter http://192.168.1.1 in the browser address bar.  Follow the menu and you should be good to go.
