What is my remote folder

Which exactly is the remote folder, Verizon wants me to use, where  I should upload my files, so I can view them through the browser?

Any one knows?

While I am not sure, I think I know.

#1 Go to http://www22.verizon.com/ResidentialHelp/HighSpeed/Email/Setup+And+Use/QuestionsOne/86782.htm

#2 Get the FTP Server settings.

Thanks for your reply. However, it does not solve the problem. jonesan

You might be helped by one of my posts from this thread, as your recent posts seem to be dealing with how to FTP files/pages to Verizon's webspace. For your convenience, I'm pasting it below:

Ah, I do believe you are making it more complicated than you need to.

Here are steps to accomplish this, assuming you are using Windows:

1. Open Windows Explorer (My Computer should work fine) and type "ftp://mysite.verizon.net" in the address bar.

2. It should pop up a box asking for a username and password - put in your Verizon username and password.

3. Open another My Computer window and navigate to the folder where the files are that you want to upload.

4. Copy/paste or Cut/paste or click and drag the files that you want from your computer to the FTP window.

5. Wait a few minutes for Verizon's servers to update, then access your files at http://mysite.verizon.net/username/filename

If you want them organized better, you can create folders in the FTP window just like any Windows folder, just be sure to change your URL accordingly.

Ex. If you created a folder called "pictures" in the FTP site and uploaded the file "image.gif" to it, then the URL to access it would behttp://mysite.verizon.net/username/pictures/image. gif

Hopefully this makes sense. If it doesn't then I can try to put together some screenshots for you, just let me know!

In your case, you would need to upload all of the files necessary, including your index.html file. If your main page's file is named something different, then you will need to do one of three things:

1. Rename the file to index.html - This is probably the simplest solution.

2. Access your main page by going to http://mysite.verizon.net/username/file.html instead of just http://mysite.verizon.net/username

3. Log into your PWS in verizon.net (but not all the way into Site Builder) and click on the "Update My Settings" link. Put the file name of your main page into the "Default Page File Name" field, and save.

Hope this helps! If this isn't what you needed, maybe you could rephrase the question?

Thank you for your advice, somegirl. However in step 4, I can copy the file, but there is no option to past it in the FTP program. I am using Direct FTP.  I was able to create two websites, ftpmysite.verizon.net/jonsong12/index. htm and the other website is the same URL except with index.html at the end. Looking forwards to your instructions.

The directions I provided are for moving your files to Verizon's servers without an FTP client. You don't actually need one.

Could you please rephrase your previous reply. The more I read, the more I get confused. Maybe several things are overlapping. After trying out Verizon.s web site builder some time ago, I created a published website called: hometo site    http:mysite.ncnetwork.net/res12klf2/hometosite/  With anotherr web site builder I made two web sites, I uploaded to Verizon's server. These web sites are: http://mysite.verizon.net/jonsong12/index.html and http://mysite.verizon.net/jonsong12/htm

I am being advised to ask Verizon what the folder is, I have to upload my files to, in order to view them in the browser. Sometimes it is called the WWW.folder, or public_html folder or an index page in the root. I don't have any idea what that meansor what is going on. If you could pump some knowledge into my brain, it is greatly appreciated.

Your second url appears to be incomplete, but I am able to view the first just fine. All it has on it is "This is another test." but it does appear. What exactly is the trouble that you are having?

Thanks for your fast reply. Could you please add a forwards slash at the end of the first URL?

The problem I am having is the following: I would like to know the name of the folder where all my files are being stored after uploading them to the Verizon server. It seems right now they are someplace at different locations. Have a great day!
