I am having trouble with my XBOX Live connection regularly being dropped.
I have had DSL service for 5 years and the lines are all connected properly with the DSL filters on the correct lines.
The system is connected directly to the gateway.
On the gateway I have;
enabled UPnP
set up port forwarding for XBOX Live as the host IP
I am not sure what else to try at this time.
Thank,
Modland

I finally gave in and bought a new modem/router combo. I figured I would have to buy a router anyway if I had to run the Westell as a brdge for it to work. I've been using it all day without a single disconnection. It looks like there must have been some sort of hardware prblem with the Westell.

#1 If you do not have at least two game consoles behind this Westell, turn off UPnP and only forward manually.
#2 If you have at least two game consoles behind this Westell, stop forwarding manually and use UPnP.
#3 In the router go to Advanced -> IP Address Distribution.
#4 What is the DHCP Range of the router?
#5 If you are forwarding manually (and you do not have at least two game consoles behind this Westell) what IP Address are you forwarding to?

Please see my responses in bold.
#1 If you do not have at least two game consoles behind this Westell, turn off UPnP and only forward manually.
I also have a Wii connected wirelessly, the XBOX is a wired connection.
#2 If you have at least two game consoles behind this Westell, stop forwarding manually and use UPnP.
Done
#3 In the router go to Advanced -> IP Address Distribution.
#4 What is the DHCP Range of the router?
Private LAN DHCP Settings
Start IP Address: 192.168.1.15
End IP Address: 192.168.1.47
#5 If you are forwarding manually (and you do not have at least two game consoles behind this Westell) what IP Address are you forwarding to?
I was forwarding to 192.168.1.47 previously before I stopped forwarding per #2.
I am still being disconnected.

#1 For testing reasons, do the following..
a) disable UPnP in the router.
b) Set the Xbox to use the Static IP of 192.168.1.48
http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm
c) In the router forward to the 192.168.1.48
#2 If that does not work, please post.
#3 What firmware does this router use? I believe this is at Advanced -> Firmware Update.
#4 I know that your Xbox and Wii are connected to the router.
How many other computers, are connected?
For example this means: PCs/Macs running Windows, Macs running the Mac OS, PCs/Macs running distros of Unix/Linux.

1 . Done.
2. That worked for about 20 minutes. Much longer than I've usually been able to stay connected, but I was still disconnected.
3. I am running firmware VER:4.04.03.00
4. I have one PC connected running Windows XP
I also have an iPod touch, iPhone, and a DirectTV DVR that also use the gateway.

#1 On a PC Or Mac using a wired connection, go to http://www.verizon.net/central/vzc.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=vzc_help_contentDisplay&linkflag=gue...
#2 Download the firmware for your Westell 327w.
#3 Please make sure that only one computer is connected to the router, during the update.
#4 Check by going into the router, and trying to update the firmware.
Please report, if that fixes it or not.

I performed the update. The firmware that was installed appears to be the same version, VER:4.04.03.00.
When I powered up the Xbox after the update was completed and the gateway reset my connection was dropped again within a minute.
Thanks for all of your help so far. I hope we are not reaching a dead end.

#1 Correct me if I am wrong, your Westell 327w looks like the Red and Black Firmware for the Westell 6100 listed at http://www.dslreports.com/faq/13600
a) Points to http://take-a-screenshot.org/ for directions on how to take a screen shot.
b) After a screen shot is taken, save and upload it to somewhere. For example upload it to http://tinypic.com/
c) Please provide the URL to the image.
#2 If I am correct about what your firmware looks like, in the router go to System Monitoring -> Advanced Status -> Transceiver Status.
#3 Please post the info from there.
#4 The know that the router is handling the public IP. Is the router set to PPPoE OR DHCP?
