billing: automatically taking money out of my checking account_NOT HAPPY

i signed up for verizon high speed internet on line. nowhere when inputting my debit card information was i told verizon would automatically deduct my bill from my account. i did not see or approve of this at all, never have and never will! not only are they taking my money their taking it 2 weeks before its due. IS THIS LEGAL! dont i have to approve this set up. I DID NOT approve of this billing technique. when i called customer service i was told because i only have internet thru verizon that is the only way it can be done. BAD< BAD business practice. you have probably lost a customer over this, thanks for not giving me options on paying my bill and WASTING my time
