e-mail trouble

Suddenly, I'm getting a message 'application failed' when I try to open an email attachment....after clicking 'okay to open'.  Does anyone know why?

Also, it's bugged me that I don't have spellcheck on my emails.   Can anyone tell me how I can add spellchecker?

What -Why are you opening e-mail attachment(s)?

That is a very dangerous thing.

I would strongly suggest that you save the file to your hard drive, and * SCAN THE FILE with an ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAM BEFORE OPENING it *.

If you did save the file attachment to your hard drive, scanned it for malware, what anti-virus program do you have installed?
