Am I the only one who has slow internet using the verizon. Sometimes it is as bad a a 2400 baud modem. This is just awful since I came from comcast broadband but gee is anyone else moving slow as molasses???

I do not have a router I have the verizon card I use for my laptop. I have no standalone. I use avast for my antivirus and no firewall. I am using vista with plenty of memory, it just this darn card and the internet stink. It is like running a 2400 baud modem and that is no matter where I am I cannot get under 100 for my RSSI's. I am use to comcast cabel and I know this is no comparison but it just sits and sits and sits before it finally moves. I would love to get out of the contract and something that works. I have called them over and over and they can never tell me why...

Ok.
#1 Check your IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, and DNS Servers on your computer.
Since you are on Windows Vista, I point to
http://www.ncsu.edu/resnet/windows/ipconfig/vista.php
#2 Then check if any of the IP Address(es) on your comptuer is the same as the IP Address on http://whatismyip.com/
#3 Please only tell me if the IP Address(es) are the same or Different.
#4 My Windows XP machine has a software firewall built into it.
So, most likely your version of Windows has a software firewall built into it (And it is most likey turned on by default).
