xbox live disconnects while internet is in use

Hello,  my son uses xbox live for group gaming a lot in the evening.  We have the xbox and two pc's connected to a Netgear RangeMax Duo Wireless N router, and the modem is a Westfall 6100.  If he is on xbox live in a group game, and I connect to the internet, he loses his connection.  If I'm on the internet, and he connects to live, things will be okay unless I try to download something.  Sometimes I can get off the internet and he'll be able to log back on, sometimes not.

Any suggestions or help will be appreciated.  Thanks!

#1 The model of that Netgear is the WNDR3300?

#2 What is the current LAN IP Address of it?

That could be found by checking the Default Gateway on your computer.

For example if you were on Windows XP..

a) Go to Start -> Run.

b) Type in cmd and press enter.

c) In the new window, called the command prompt, type in ipconfig /all and press enter.

#3 In the router go to Router Status.

#4 Now with another web browser Tab OR Window go to https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2

#5 In the same paragraph as

There is no standard governing the format of these machine names, so this is not something we can automatically determine for you.

is an IP Address.

#6 In the Netgear at Router Status, do you see the same IP Address?

#7 If not:

a) Is there any device(s) between your Netgear and your Westell?

b) If there are device(s) between your Netgear and your Westell, what is the brand and model of that/those device(s).

#1 The model of that Netgear is the WNDR3300?  correct

#2 What is the current LAN IP Address of it?  10.0.0.1

I don't see router status at all.  All I see is this:  pool-{edited IP address for privacy} va.east.verizon.net

#7 If not:

a) Is there any device(s) between your Netgear and your Westell?  no

b) If there are device(s) between your Netgear and your Westell, what is the brand and model of that/those device(s).

If it is relevant, under IP configuration, routing is not enabled.  Thanks!

#1 Try to visit http://192.168.1.1/

#2 Choose System Monitoring, Advanced Monitors, and then click Transceiver Statistics. Post up the information you see. Additionally, in the Advanced Monitors section you'll see a link called System Logging. Click that and post up the log from the "All" category. If the Log is too big to post, visit http://www.pastebin.com/ and paste up there for us to see.

#3 Should you need a Username and Password to log into the router, try the following:

admin/password

admin/password1

admin/admin

admin/admin1

#4 If you can't get access to http://192.168.1.1/

a) First try to go to the Default Gateway that is listed in your Netgear at Router Status

For example maybe it will not 192.168.1.1, it will be 192.168.2.1

b) Please tell me if you have a Hub or Switch that is not part of a router.

c) Please tell me if one of your computers has two NICs or not (at one must be a wired NIC).

d) Please tell me if you know how to setup a Static IP on your computer.
