Wireless Ranger Extender

I am trying to hook up a D-link wireless extender (DAP 1320) to my Actiontec wireless router. The instructions say to push the WPS set up button on the router.  The idea is that the extender will see it and connect.  This isn't happening.   When I try the manual method, the D-link doesn't see the other router.  

Anyone done this?  Any suggestions?
