Call forwarding shouldn't be this difficult

Why can't Verizon figure out how to allow me to forward calls to my cell phone when I am away, and NOT forward them when I am home? I got stuck with something that forwards them, but I can't turn it off! *73 (and all other variants) just gets "Your call can not be completed as dialed." I have been on the phone with them off and on since Monday.

Hey 4himarks, the Call Forwarding feature allows you to transfer all of your calls to any local or long distance telephone number. It must be activated from your home phone. Did you call in and talk to a rep that setup call forwarding for you? Can you send me a private message with your home phone#?
