land line slammed/shut off w/o authorization

rcd email  from Verizon posted last night -"We have received your request to change your voice telephone service to another provider and we need to verify the status of your remaining services"

I did not request this to happen. When I attempted to call them I realized the phone was dead.  Used cell phone and spoke with 2 differant reps neither of which could tell me anything. They said they would have to get back in touch with me next week. Kept asking if I had brought the phone number with me when I switched to Verizon 7 yrs ago and was I sure I had not asked for phone number to be switched.  Same number since 1979 and I did not request change.

They were more concerned about keeping the other services, TV and internet.

Looking at my account info online I found a service order number but they would not tell me what that was for.

Anyone else out there having this issue? Could my account have been hacked?

Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum, and look in the middle, right at the top where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
Under “My Support Cases” you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. This should be checked on a frequent basis as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

Slamming has been common for years.  And unless you specifically ask for changes to be blocked, Verizon must honor a request even if its not actually valid.  Anyone having this happen needs to contact Verizon ASAP during so called Business hours.

Suggest everyone have changes to phone service blocked.

I try that they can't block changes on fios voip lines. My number was slammed and Verizon is charging me to restore my number and making me sign up for another 24 months of triple play, since I service was interrupted.
