Frustrated with phone options

I switched from Cablevision to FIOS last week and am very frustrated with the phone options.  I miss being able to get my voicemail in my email.  Tried to sign up for call assistant and of course it doesn't seem to be available.  Any idea when it will be available on LI.

Same issue with me in Westchester Co, NY.  The caller id on the TV is great and I also get real time caller id emails.  I was told I can't access my voicemail via the internet  even though I have a new voicemail.  My only option is to call in the mailbox number.  

 

So what good is a voicemail box that never indicates a new message?  I guess I'll just use a cheap digital voicemail box with a blinking light so I know I have received a message.  Also our current Verizon voicemail message... Sorry we are currently on the phone and VERIZON can't provide us an indication of any new voicemails.  Please call back or call our cell to leave a message.
