I had my current phone number for over 35 years. Five years ago I switch/ported my number to the cable company for their triple play offer, each year the price with the cable company went up, now its just off the chart with the price. I want to switch back to verizon, I tried to complete the order on verizon.com but I am getting a message that my number cannot be ported back. My number is the same as when I had verizon and I still live in the same geographical area. Under fcc porting rules I think that I am entitled to keep my number if I want to. Please advise?

Forget the phone number, if you want to be the new costomer of Verizon and save money, so many people do it like this. good luck.
