NO DIAL TONE-DSL WORKS GREAT!

I am wondering if anyone ever heard of their landline not working while the Verizon DSL is working normally?

I did the regular outside phone check at the box with a phone and got no dial tone.  Since there is only one line running from my house to the street I didn't think DSL could work and landline fail. This is a regular old copper phone line without any fancy extras.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Hi Hellkat,

It's entirely possible for dialtone to be absent on a line where DSL continues to function.  A fault on one of the wires in a pair can cause loss of dialtone, while the DSL continues to function on the wire without fault.  Another scenario is the switch is improperly configured, causing you to lose dialtone on an otherwise serviceable pair.

A pair is the loop of wire from the telephone Central Office or remote equipment to your home.

Please give repair a call, and I'm sure you'll be all set.

Thanks!
