I have been receiving harassing phone calls in the middle of the night. I have not been able to report it to Verizon because I cannot find a site or a number to use. I also tried to use the chat feature but there was no representative available. When I use the "help" number, I receive an automated operator who does not give me an option I can use. I used the search feature but didn't get anywhere there either. I attempted to use the *69 feature to call back but it was a "private number". Also when I tried to use the *69 feature, I got a recorded message saying "your number cannot be completed as dialed". I then attempted to block any blocked calls using *77 and I couldn't use that feature either. Good grief, why can't I find a way to fix all these problems??

I searched the Verizon Support site for harassing calls, and came up with this. I hope it helps.
Look at this location for more information on how to stop Unlawfull calls. Unwanted calls are different.
Call trace uses *57 which will be used by
The Verizon Unlawful Call Center
http://www22.verizon.com/ResidentialHelp/Phone/General+Support/Support+Tools/General/95622.htm
The Verizon Unlawful Call Center (UCC) specializes in calls that fall into one of the categories listed below. To use the services of the UCC, you must be willing to take legal actions against the caller.
Examples of unlawful calls:
- Threat to Life (yours or someone else's)
- Bomb Threats
- Bodily Harm
- Excessive Obscene or Harassing Calls (The definition of excessive varies by state but generally means more than two to five calls.)
- Kidnapping
Verizon regularly works with Law Enforcement agencies to resolve unlawful call complaints. The Law Enforcement agency investigates all calls involving bodily harm, bomb threats and kidnapping.
Unwanted Calls are usually not against the law and typically include:
- Fax calls
- Hang-up calls
- Computer calls
- Solicitation calls
- Telemarketing calls
- Debt collection calls
- Obscene or Harassing Calls*
*If calls of this nature are deemed excessive, and you are willing to prosecute, we will handle as an unlawful call.
If you want to establish a case, call the Verizon Unlawful Call Center at 1-800-518-5507 (TTY: 1-800-254-5959), Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. with your complaint number to open a case. If you want to hear a recorded message about how to use Call Trace, call
877-TRACE4U (1-877-872-2348) at any time. To reach the Verizon Unlawful Call Center please call 1-800-257-2969. Their hours of operation are Monday - Friday 08:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Verizon will store Call Trace information for 90 days. You will be notified within 30 days if there is enough Call Trace information to be sent to a law enforcement agency. The action taken by law enforcement may vary by area. The records of all traced calls will be released to a law enforcement agency only.

Also you may wish to register with the National Do Not Call Registry. All though you should not be getting those types of calls in the middle of the night.

Our local phone book has the verizon numbers listed in the front of the book some where for the various numbers to call about service and stuff. One time when I had to report something I just called the number from my bill and they transferred me to what ever department. Mary

You may want to report the calls on http://www.reportacaller.com/ as well. Sometimes making other people aware of the phone number is as effective as the Do Not Call Registry. It's certainly a faster method of action too.

I sooo agree. I have been online for 45 min and cannot find a suitable answer to my problem, and calling any of the numbers for Verizon is useless. If you have plenty of food & water, and finally do get to someone live, they have such an accent you can't understand them, or they don't know squat!!! This is the WORST company for help I have ever had!!!!

When ever I call anywhere like gas bill, insurance, credit card and such I just hit 0 while the options are playing and it usually takes me to a live operator. I may have to wait a minute or 2 depending on how busy they are but I always get a live operator that way so give it a try. Mary

Do you realize you gave your email and phone number on a public forum on the net for the whole world to see? Mary
Fortunately the moderators took care of that for the poster. 🙂
